In a stunning turn of events, Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Senior Vice President Rabindra Mishra and General Secretary Dhawal Shamsher Rana have gone missing shortly after being released on bail. The two prominent royalist leaders were arrested on Chaitra 15 during a large-scale protest held in Tinkune, Kathmandu. The protest, organized by RPP supporters, was in favor of reinstating Nepal as a constitutional monarchy.
Both leaders were presented before the court and released on recognizance a legal term meaning they were allowed to go without paying bail, based on trust that they would return for their court hearings. However, the story took a dramatic turn when they suddenly disappeared after their release.
Authorities and RPP members are both puzzled and concerned. According to reports, the court had trusted the leaders to cooperate with the ongoing investigation. But now, with no sign of either Mishra or Rana, tensions are rising.
