Kathmandu, Nepal – A new political movement has begun in Nepal as pro-monarchy leaders come together to push for the return of the constitutional monarchy and the Hindu state. The United People’s Movement Committee was recently formed under the leadership of Navaraj Subedi. Other key figures in the movement include Rabindra Mishra, Kamal Thapa, Rajendra Lingden, and businessman Durga Prasai. However, Keshav Bahadur Bista has declined to join.
The committee has set three main goals:
- Ending federalism, which they believe has weakened national unity.
- Fighting corruption, ensuring accountability in government.
- Improving governance, strengthening leadership and stability.
To support their mission, they have appointed five advisors, including Jagman Gurung and Rajesh Ahiraj.
This movement follows growing public support for the monarchy. Last month, former King Gyanendra was warmly welcomed by thousands in Kathmandu, showing renewed interest in his leadership.
