Kathmandu – The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has raised concerns about the new Social Media Bill registered in the National Assembly. The commission believes that some parts of the bill could limit people’s freedom of speech and digital rights.
After studying the bill and discussing it with experts, NHRC organized a public event to share its concerns. The commission said that social media should be regulated but not controlled too much.
"Rules should help protect people from harm but should not stop them from speaking freely," an NHRC spokesperson said during the event.
